This is important news if you have a WordPress website.
WordPress has recently released an update – the 4.7.2 version – that is very critical that you implement, especially if your site is currently running WP version 4.7 or 4.7.1.
You can read more about it here or here, but, long-story-short: the last couple versions of WordPress were recently found to have a particularly nasty vulnerability, and version 4.7.2 takes care of it. The fix (and the vulnerability) have only been public for a week or so, and already thousands of sites have been hacked.
Bottom line: if you’re running older version(s) of WordPress you need to update, of course. And, in particular, if you’re running WP versions 4.1 or 4.7.1, it’s EXTREMELY important that you update right away.
If you’re taking care of your own maintenance and updates – terrific! Just make sure (as always) that you backup before you update, and remember not to update your child theme. If you don’t know what version you’re running, or if you need assistance with updating, don’t hesitate to give us a shout – we’re happy to help.
